The major stories and themes of the bilbel are covered. Stories and storytelling, songs, activity sheets, games, craft, drama and prayer may be used in the lessons. The moral/ethical codes of the bible are studied, including: the Ten Commandments which form the basis of our legal system e.g. 'You shall not steal' and Jesus' two commandments: 'Love God and love one another. 'Also included is information about ancient cultures, creation and history in modern day language. The cirriculum is bible-based and SRE teachers encourage children to actively engage with the lessons. Specific doctrines and practices of the denomination your child is enrolled in are also taught.

NSW public schools offer special religious education and special education in ethics, delivered by approved providers wherever available.

During enrolment, you can choose a special religious education option for your child from the school’s available approved providers. You can withdraw your child from special religious education by selecting alternative meaningful activities, or special education in ethics if it’s available.

You can update your preference by writing to the school or through the online form available at participating schools.
